Hi, my name is Aaron C Knapp, and I am a Licensed Social Worker and a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant. I specialize in working with children and teens, 8-18 years old and their families as well as Adults. I have experience with this age group in a community mental health and residential setting, as well as having worked with juveniles who have been mandated for treatment due to juvenile delinquency through the courts.
I feel that my experience with this age group’s needs from a developmental as well as lived experience has given me a unique perspective allowing greater therapeutic results.
I am also practiced in adult therapeutic interventions, and I am comfortable working with culturally diverse populations as well as the LGBTQ+ community.
I have a bachelor’s degree in social work, a Minor in Substance Use Disorders from The Ohio State University, I am a Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths Assessor with the State of Ohio, and I have experience as a Family Peer Supporter.
As a Social Worker and a Therapist, I assess each client based on their individual needs in order to give my clients a full scope of therapeutic services along with the resources and tools to implement the skills in real time. I provide individual therapeutic services, family therapeutic services, as well as Substance Use Disorder Counseling.
I primarily work with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, and PTSD as well as other trauma related disorders. I use cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) solutions focused brief therapy (SFBT), motivational interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I provide a evidence based and culturally appropriate therapeutic milieu in order to best serve every client. And as a Veteran of the US Army, I feel I am uniquely qualified to work with clients who have a military background.
FUN FACT: I have traveled the world, walked on the Great Wall of China, and I love to sing Karaoke!
